About The Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix

By Ron Fuller · Comments (0)
Sunday, March 9th, 2014

The Goal of the Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix© is to encourage runners to travel around the region and participate in quality running events while seeing different areas of the region and competing against runners that they may not see at their local running events.

The series accepts events from across the state of Tennessee and any state that borders Tennessee.

The events that comprise the grand prix will be different lengths from 1 mile to a full marathon. We will divide the state into three regions: west, middle and east. We will make an effort to have no more than one event in a particular region on the same date and time (there could be races in the morning, afternoon, or evening—just not two at the same time) within a particular region of the state

At the events that comprise the grand prix, runners will be eligible to earn points by placing in the top ten finishers of their age group. The points will be awarded in sixteen different age groups (male and female): 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over. These are the age groups that will be recognized by the grand prix regardless of the age groups that may be utilized at a particular race.

The first place finisher in an age group will earn ten points, the second place finisher in an age group will earn nine points, etc with the tenth place finisher in an age group earning one point. Different length events will receive a multiplier to the points earned as follows: 1 mile to 6.2 miles (10K) points earned times one, above 6.2 miles to 13.1 miles (half marathon) points earned times 2, and above 13.1 miles points earned times three. domain list In other words, a first place age group finisher in a 10K would receive ten points, a first place age group finisher in a 15K would receive twenty points, and a first place age group finisher in a marathon would receive thirty points.

The age group for a participant will be established by the age recorded at the first grand prix event that they finish in the top ten in their age group in a particular grand prix season.

Participants will accumulate points over a twelve month time span that runs from January 1 of one year until December 31 of the following year.  There is no maximum number of events that an individual may use to accumulate points for their grand prix total.

Total Race Solutions will publish the individual points total for each qualifying participant and the complete results for each event that is part of the series at www.totalracesolutions.com. A participant can view their individual race history and their grand prix standing on the Total Race Solutions website.

Enjoy!
