Race is part of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, takes place in May. It celebrates the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Asian Culture Center of TN's mission is to invest in the Greater Knoxville Community and East Tennessee by promoting Cultural Diversity and bringing families and children together to experience the richness and beauty of a diverse culture.This 5K race strives to bring together people from various cultural backgrounds, to promote peace, harmony, unity and healthy lifestyle.
Asian Culture Center of TN has many programs including the 6th Annual Knox Asian Festival on Aug 25, 2019, at World's Fair Park, teaching language and culture at public schools, teaching how to cook Asian food, helping local business to connect more diverse culture and grow, we partner with other non profit organizations to help immigrants to get citizenship, and much more.
This race proceeds will go toward creating an educational festival "Knox Asian Festival" and providing educational services to public schools in Knoxville and surrounding area.Thank you so much for your support for diversity awareness and bringing programs to benefit local education.
Costume Contest! We encourage you to proudly show off your culture by wearing a costume to run. We will be giving a best costum award.
RACE Awards :Over all 1,2,3rd male , female, Age group award - Very unique medal and Male Over all winner will get decoration Sward from Samurai, Over all winner of female will get Japanese summer Kimono. Note: virtual runners are excluded from awards.
After Race FUN. We have Japanese Rice ball and Miso soup for after race foods. (Bananas and orange ,too) , Japanese Mochi pounding event.
Virtual 5K. We understand everyone has a busy schedule and may not make it on the race day. Sign up the virtual 5k option and run/walk a 5k anywhere, any time between April 27 and May 11 and send a screenshot or a picture of your run/walk log to asianfestivalknox@gmail.com with your name on registration and your shipping address. We will mail the finisher medal to you. It may take up to 14 business days to receive your medal. Share your log and your picture with us on Facebook and invite your friends!
